really hate to use clichés, but Ladakh is indeed a trekker's paradise.
And once you've broken in your hiking boots here, you will only agree.
Located in the northernmost part of India, it lies at altitudes ranging
from 9,000 feet to 25,000 feet. Flanked by two of the world's mightiest
mountain ranges—the Greater Himalayas and the Karakoram ranges—Ladakh
is India's highest plateau. How should that matter to you? Well, it
means a great climate. The mercury rarely edges past 27°C in the
summer, though it can plummet to minus 20°C in the winter. The best
months to trek here are from May through October.
Its
unique geographical location makes Ladakh rich with extraordinary
trekking trails for all expertise levels. Its high mountain passes give
you astounding views of the majestic mountains every day of your trek.
Then there is the huge variety of landscapes—you will be passing from
barren terrain into green meadows and then wooded valleys. Ladakh
easily has some of the most picturesque treks in India, and perhaps
even in the world. And we mean, really picturesque! Whip your camera
out and it would be practically impossible for you to click a picture
that's not beautiful Well, unless you leave the lens cover on!
Below we list some of the treks we organise, none the elss we are more
than happy to tailor make a trek to your requirements and taste.
1. Markha Valley Trek

This
trek has been, one of the most favourite trek among trekkers for a long
time because of Beautiful Valley of Markha overshadowed by Kangyatse
and other groups of Peaks. The numerous small villages, shepherds camps
and passes are main feature of this trek. The trek begins from Spituk
monastery or Stok village passing through Stok La and Ganda la Pass,
which takes you across Markha valley. At last it crosses Kongmaru Pass
and finishes wonderful trek at the famous Hemis monastery.

Around 6 days trek from Henaskut to Wanla starts from Henaskut around
160 Kms. from Leh near Leh-Srinagar highway in Kargil district. There
are many passes Like Yogmala (4900 meters.), Niyigutse La (5,100 mtrs.)
and Pirkiting La (3,700 mtrs.) and it finishes at Lamayuru, where the
oldest monastery in Ladakh is located, around 125 Kms. from Leh
town.

3. Lamayuru to Padum

This
is the most popular Trail into Zangskar via Shingo La. This trek starts
from famous monastery of Lamayuru and enters Zangskar through most
isolated villages of Lingshet, Photoksar and then the headquarters of
Zangskar called Padum. The return can be organized by jeep via Kargil
or you can trek back to Leh via Junglam in September, October

4. Tsomoriri to Kibber

Drive six hours to Tsomoriri Lake or Korzok; headquarter of nomads via
Chumathang and Mahay Bridge along the Indus River. After a night halt
start your acclimatization walk for a day, where you can visit Changpa
nomads and have a wonderful view of Tsomoriri Lake. Third day ,
you will start you trek along the Tsomoriri Lake with beautiful
landscape. The trail turns southward from Nurboo Sumdo and start
walking along Parang chu valley towering snow Peak Mountains. Seventh
day you will walk on a glacier mountain for 30 minutes to reach Parang
la 5880m. Crossing the pass the landscape suddenly changes with high
mountains of Lahaul & Spiti, then Kibber village in Himachal
Pradesh is reached after another day’s trek. Your wonderful trek
finishes here. After the trek you can extend the trip and visit Ki,
Lhalung, Pin and Tabo monasteries of Spiti Valley by Jeep. From here we
drive back to Manali and then to Delhi to fly back home.
5. Hemis to Zangla by Junglam

The
trek starts from Hemis monastery (one of the richest monastery in
Ladakh). It enters in famous Markha valley and Zangskar via Junglam,
which is open only for a month. In summer this route is closed due to
water crossing and in winter heavy snowfall.

6. Sham Trek (Liker to Khaltse)

Sham trek is milled trek, which is very convenient for people who
prefer soft trek, visit monasteries and traditional Ladakhi villages.
This is the only trek can be done through out the year as there is not
any high passes. We drive in the morning to Liker for one and half
hour, visit Liker monastery and the trek begins. We can visit other
monasteries of Rizdong, Temisgam and Lamayuru after finishing the
trek.

7. Lamayuru to Darcha Trek

This
is the most popular trail into Zangskar via Shingo La. This trek starts
from famous monastery of Lamayuru and enters Zangskar through most
isolated villages of Lingshet, Photoksar and then the capital of the
valley which is Padum. Further this trek leads you to Darcha in
Himachal Pradesh via Phuktal and Bardan monasteries.

8. Lamayuru to Hemis

The
oldest monastery is situated on the starting point of this trek, which
finishes at Hemis the Richest and most famous monastery of Ladakh.
There are many Passes on this trail. It passes through Hemis national
park to preserve snow leopard and other wild animals. But there is only
10% chance to view a snow leopard. Further it enters the beautiful
valley of Markha, which overshadowed by many Peaks. The high
pasturelands of Nimaling are dotted with yaks & goats of Markha
villagers while their tents usually have an overflow of Milk, Butter
and Curd.
